Eighth Annual Archives Fair to be Held at Library of Congress
The Library of Congress Manuscript Division and Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference is sponsoring the eighth annual Washington, D.C. Archives Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, in Madison Hall, first floor, James Madison Building, 101 Independence Ave. S.E., Washington, D.C. This event is free and open to the public.
This year’s theme, in celebration of Archives Week (Oct. 9-15), is "In Archives We Trust: Preserving Our History." Trudy H. Peterson, former acting archivist of the United States, is guest speaker for the event.
Representatives from many Washington area archival repositories will display resources from their institutions and be available to answer questions concerning archives. Those participating include the Anacostia Museum and Center for African American History and Culture; American University; Arlington County Central Library; Charles Sumner School Museum and Archives; D.C. Archives; D.C. Public Library; George Washington University; Goodwill Archives; Goucher College; Felix E. Grant Archives of the University of the District of Columbia; Historical Society of Washington, D.C.; Howard University; Inter*American Development Bank; Library of Congress Manuscript Division, American Folklife Center and Veterans History Project; National Archives; National Geographic Society; National Air and Space Museum; National Gallery of Art; Smithsonian Institution Archives Center; and the University of Maryland.
