Digital Lecture Series Featuring Neil Gershenfeld Discussing Internet Zero to be Aired Live on C-SPAN on March 28

WHAT: The John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress has been presenting a series of evening lectures on "Managing Knowledge and Creativity in a Digital Context" featuring some of the best-known experts in digitally networked communications. Aired live on C-SPAN, the lectures are free and open to the public, and no reservations are required. The 90-minute broadcast on March 28 will be the final program in the series. C-SPAN 2 will repeat the eight-part series from March 29 to April 1.

The moderators and coordinators for these events are Deanna Marcum, associate librarian for Library Services at the Library of Congress, and Derrick de Kerckhove, holder of the Harissios Papamarkou Chair in Education and Technology at the John W. Kluge Center.

WHEN: The eighth lecture in the series takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 28.

WHO: The speaker is Neil Gershenfeld, director of the Center for Bits and Atoms at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Gershenfeld is the author of "Fab" and "When Things Start to Think." The topic of his lecture is "From the Library of Information to the Library of Things." He will discuss the interface between the physical world and the digital world — from the Internet Zero (I0) initiative, which provides Internet connectivity for everyday objects, to lab and field work for personal fabrication tools, which enable ordinary people to become technological creators as well as consumers.
