American Communism and Anticommunism in the Cold War Era," "Communism and Anti-Communism in the United States: An Annotated Guide to Historical Writings Garland Publishing" and "Dubious Alliance: The Making of Minnesota?s DFL Party," along with more than 40 published articles, essays and columns. He received his Ph.D. and master's degree from the University of Minnesota and his bachelor's from Florida State University
