Record of the Week

from The National Jukebox

Each week our panel of experts picks a different National Jukebox selection to highlight.

This week’s selection:

"I’ll see you in C-U-B-A" performed by Rudy Wiedoeft’s Palace Trio, recorded February 26, 1920.

Irving Berlin’s catchy tune about Prohibition is combined here with an interpolation of “I’m gonna spend my honeymoon in Dixie.” Wiedoeft’s usual virtuosic dexterity on the C-melody saxophone remains in the background, giving space for some wonderfully “jazzy” accordion by Mario Perry.
