Rights and Restrictions Information

Prints and Photographs Division, Library of Congress, Washington, D.C., 20540-4730

The Goldstein Collection contains prints and drawings from many artists and sources. Rights may vary.

Access: Subject to P&P policy on serving originals. As a preservation measure, when a digital image or other substitute (e.g., copy photograph) is available, researchers are generally served that instead of the original. Some materials are served only by appointment.

Reproduction (photocopying, hand-held camera copying, photoduplication and other forms of copying allowed by "fair use"): Subject to P&P policy on copying, which prohibits photocopying of original drawings and other fragile materials.

Publication and other forms of distribution: Rights status of individual drawings varies. All information documented by P&P staff regarding publication and/or copyright claimants has been recorded in the catalog record, but rights information is not known for all items.

Published works copyrighted prior to 1923 are in the public domain. Published works copyrighted after 1923 that are still in their original or renewal term of copyright are protected for 95 years from the copyright date. Unpublished works may be protected by copyright for the life of the creator plus 70 years or until the year 2002, whichever is longer. Therefore, patrons are advised to check for copyright prior to publication or other forms of distribution.

Credit Line: Library of Congress, Prints & Photographs Division, [reproduction number, e.g., LC-USZ62-123456]
