High-temperature gel permeation chromatography (GPC) is used to characterize high-molecular mass polymers by their size distribution and molecular weight distribution. These polymers include those present in magnetic media, paper-based materials, and others.
Applications:
- characterization of products from degradation of polyurethanes in magnetic media related to “sticky shed syndrome”
- comparison of the depolymerization products of cellulose in papers with varied compositions or coatings
- characterization of products from degradation of acetate film
