Opportunities for Senior Scholars

The Kluge Center welcomes senior scholars at the height of academia, or senior practitioners at the height of their fields, for residency as chair holders or as distinguished visiting scholars.

The majority of these positions are filled by invitation of the Librarian of Congress; some are selected through competition. Senior scholars receive individual offices within the iconic Library of Congress Thomas Jefferson Building for which to think, write and research.

Opportunites for Fellows

The Kluge Center welcomes and invites promising post-graduate scholars for research in an array of subjects that can be supported by the Library's collections and digital resources.

These positions are filled by a range of competitions managed by the Kluge Center. Fellows receive individual carrels within the iconic Library of Congress Thomas Jefferson Building to pursue their work.

Through formal partnerships with a range of scholarly organizations, the Kluge Center welcomes researchers selected in joint collaboration and funded by the partner organization.

  • Frederick Burkhardt Residential Fellowship for Recently Tenured Scholars

Opportunities for Internships

The Kluge Center offers internships through select existing programs with institutions. Interested parties should contact those institutions directly.
