Law Librarian of Congress David S. Mao, has announced the appointment of Albert P. Hegyi of 1st Financial Bank USA to be Distinguished Chair of the Law Library of Congress’s Global Outreach Committee, beginning in October 2013. Mr. Hegyi is the first person appointed to this newly created position.
Mr. Mao commented that “the Law Library is pleased to have Mr. Hegyi agree to be Chair of this committee. The Chair will advise the Law Library on a wide range of issues related to global outreach, particularly to the global legal and business communities. As the Law Library expands virtual services, ensuring broad input about its products and services is critically important. During the one year appointment, the Chair will meet with Law Library experts as well as other global business and legal leaders in order to provide the broadest range of consultation. Mr. Hegyi brings a wealth of knowledge on business and the law to the committee, and the Law Library is glad that it will be able to draw on his expertise as it positions itself to face the global challenges of the 21st century. We are very appreciative that Mr. Hegyi will contribute his time and considerable talents to the Law Library.”
Mr. Hegyi is currently Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of 1st Financial Bank USA, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010. The Bank originates credit cards and provides community banking services in South Dakota. Mr. Hegyi serves as a Trustee of the National Music Museum in South Dakota. He graduated from Dartmouth College, received an MBA from Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College, and his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
