Humor's Edge Pulitzer Prize-winning Cartoons by Ann Telnaes

In 2001 Ann Telnaes became the second woman ever to win the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning. One of the few women in this highly competitive field, Telnaes creates some of today's boldest political cartoons. Humor's Edge celebrates Ann Telnaes's generous gift to the Library of Congress of eighty-one original drawings that represent the range of themes that engage this gifted artist who has recently emerged as a leader in American editorial cartooning. An artist who bravely criticizes the actions and words of powerful public figures, Telnaes takes stands on complex, divisive issues and affirms the editorial cartoon as a potent means of expressing opinions and illuminating issues of the day.

All drawings are gifts of the artist and are preserved in the Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress. They are protected by copyright.

This exhibition was made possible with funds provided by the Caroline and Erwin Swann Memorial Fund for Caricature and Cartoon.
