The Republican Rail Splitters of Portland, Me., was a campaign club formed for the purposes of supporting Republican candidates in the 1860 presidential election.

Minutes of the Republican Rail Splitters of Portland meetings. Officers were W.S. Brown, president; H.C. Noyes and Oren Ring, vice-presidents; N.C. Curtis, recording secretary; and J.S. Heald, corresponding secretary.
“The Committee on Uniforms reported progress -- after discussion it was voted to have open torches also the cape proposed by the committee [?] of [?] cloth of a yellow color. Voted that the committee procure samples of capes to be presented at the next meeting.”
