John S. Jones (1819-1898) and his father Jack Jones, both of Butler County, Ohio, were actively involved in the Underground Railroad.

Includes deeds for property in Oxford Township, Ohio, pension records, marriage records, newspaper and magazine articles, photographs, and maps. Other persons represented include Simon Miller, of Oxford, Ohio, a civil rights advocate for African Americans. Also contains items documenting that two of John S. Jones's sons fought for the Union Army in the 54th and 55th Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment.
