The Policy and Standards Division of the Library of Congress has received a proposal for a new Kazakh (in Arabic Script) ALA-LC romanization table from the University of Washington. The author notes that although “a majority of current Kazakh publications are in Cyrillic [script], a number of titles are issued in China using a modified Arabic script. Some of these titles are acquired by libraries, and the lack of an approved romanization table has led to problems.”
Comments on this proposed revision may be sent to Bruce Johnson in LC’s Policy and Standards Division (firstname.lastname@example.org) no later than September 7, 2012.
